Green Earth Committee

Permaculture Project
Our church community has committed to a three-year Permaculture Project that focuses on bringing our building and grounds into closer alignment with our values, using permaculture as a design ethic.

Window Dressers
Want to do something for the environment that can save you money, too?  A2U2 is sponsoring a "community build" for energy-saving window inserts at Woodfords Church, September 29 through October 3.  Learn more.

Recycling Resources
Here's where to recycle what you no longer need.

Green Funerals in Maine
A2U2's Final Choices interest group is working to further our congregation's understanding of the options available in Maine for green funerals. More information can be found at Funeral Consumers Alliance of Maine

Energy Audit Kit
Contact the Chair of the Green Earth Committee to find out how to borrow this kit for auditing your home's energy performance.  Kit includes energy monitor, infrared draft sensor, refrigerator thermometer, wizard stick draft detector and informational booklets.

Recent Actions:
  • Members of the Social Action Committee met with the staff of Senator Susan Collins, urging the Senator to support the new EPA regulations curbing carbon dioxide emissions.  Read their report.
  • At our May, 2013 annual meeting the congregation unanimously approved a resolution opposing the transport of tar sands through Maine.
